Zero Net Energy Home: More Information
June, 2016

If you are looking for more information about how to have a Zero Net Energy home, here are some resources we found while writing this column that could be useful to a homeowner.

  • The National Institute of Standards and Technology is testing zero-net technologies at a test facility in Maryland. This page gives updates about the house and their research. ECT.coop also has an article about this project.

  • The non-profit Zero Net Energy Homes has ideas for ways to include zero-net energy practices in homebuilding and major renovations.

  • This article in Texas Co-op Power describes a zero-net energy home built in Texas, with the assistance of a local co-op.

  • The U.S. Department of Energy has information about its certification program, Zero Energy Ready Homes.

Other than solar panels, a Zero Net Energy Home may not look different from other homes.
